Alicia Hurtt: Transforming Maternal Health Through Holistic Wellness

In spaces where maternal healthcare often overlooks the emotional and spiritual well-being of women, Alicia Hurtt has stepped forward to change the narrative. As the founder of I See My Baby Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to holistic maternal wellness, Alicia is creating a safe, affirming space for women—particularly women of color—to heal, thrive, and embrace their motherhood journey. Her mission is rooted in her own experiences with infertility and the realization that her pain could serve a greater purpose.

Transforming Maternal Health Through Holistic Wellness

Turning Pain Into Purpose

Alicia’s journey began with her struggles with infertility, an experience that left her feeling isolated despite having a strong support system. As a woman of Caribbean descent, she was surrounded by family, yet the weight of her emotional distress felt deeply personal. Rather than allowing her struggle to define her, she used it as a catalyst for change, birthing I See My Baby Inc. to support other women facing similar challenges.

Her nonprofit takes a holistic approach to maternal health, combining traditional birthing support with alternative wellness practices like yoni steaming, herbal remedies, and spiritual healing.

A Safe Haven for Women

Recently, Alicia expanded her efforts by opening a Women’s Wellness Center in Bainbridge, Georgia. Recognizing a significant need for comprehensive maternal care in the area, she took action—meeting with local officials, assessing the community’s needs, and ultimately establishing a space where women can receive wraparound support. The center, which had its ribbon-cutting ceremony in January 2024, offers services such as:

  • Doula support for pregnancy and postpartum care
  • Yoni steaming for infertility and reproductive health
  • Mental health resources, including therapy and support groups
  • Spiritual wellness programs, including devotionals and affirmations
  • West African dance and yoga for grounding and balance

Alicia’s work addresses the alarming maternal mortality rate among Black women in the U.S. by empowering them to advocate for their health, make informed decisions, and receive culturally competent care

Empowering Women Through Education and Advocacy

One of Alicia’s key strategies is advocacy training. Through workshops and expert-led discussions, she educates women on their rights in medical settings, preparing them to voice their needs during pregnancy and childbirth.

Her wellness center is also deeply rooted in faith, with daily devotional sessions setting the tone for the day. “We start every morning with prayer, light a candle, and create an atmosphere of peace,” she shares. “When women walk in, they immediately feel a sense of calm—that’s how we know we’re doing something right.”

Stories of Transformation

Alicia recalls a recent client who came in for yoni steaming and left transformed. “She was hesitant at first, but by the end of her session, she was glowing—open, confident, and expressive,” she says. “It was a beautiful reminder of why we do this work.”

Her impact extends beyond Bainbridge. By aligning with organizations that support survivors of domestic violence and crisis pregnancies, Alicia ensures that women facing difficult circumstances have access to immediate resources.

Building a Legacy of Holistic Care

Alicia’s vision for the future of I See My Baby Inc. is ambitious. She plans to expand to multiple cities, ensuring that holistic wellness centers tailored to each community’s needs become a national standard.

She envisions a world where Black women confidently advocate for themselves in medical spaces, where maternal care prioritizes emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being. “I want every woman to know that she is seen, heard, and valued,” she affirms. “And that she has the power to manifest the life she deserves.”

Alicia Hurtt is more than a businesswoman—she is a healer, an advocate, and a force for change in maternal health. Through her unwavering dedication, she is redefining what it means to care for women, ensuring that their journeys to motherhood are supported, informed, and empowering.
